Wotcher Harry Potter fans!
Some weird British author’s estate is suing Scholastic because of Goblet of Fire. The author created a book with a dumb title (“The Adventures of Willy the Wizard”) in 1978, 13 years before Goblet of Fire came out. I’m sorry for being so biased, but I really think the estate is just being very dumb right now. According to the article on Bloomberg, he said:
“The central theme of each work — a yearlong wizard contest — unfolds as similar characters enact parallel plot points,” according to the complaint.
Okay, I’m seriously going to look into this “Willy the Wizard” thing some more. So, the actual author of the thing died right when Sorcerer’s Stone came out, 1997. The estate also sued Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, the British publishing company for GOF.
Well, I am going to give you the link to the full article on Bloomberg here. In the meantime, I’m going off to Barnes and Nobles, GoodReads, Borders, Wikipedia, Fan sites (if anyone created any), and anything else I can find on this thing.
